Remember my $5 scrap bin find at the quilt shop I blogged about here? Yesterday I received the solid fabrics I ordered to match this project, so I decided to pull it back out and see what I could do with it.
I began by cutting 2.5″ strips and then laying them out as sashing. It made the whole thing too linear and predictable. So then I laid the strips at various places in between the blocks. That was OK also. So I took it one step further and cut the plain blocks off center and sewed the strips into them. Above is the result. I have finished the sewing of the top 2 rows and I like the unpredictability of it!
I will likely sash around the edge with one color and then back with the pink. Another project for a baby girl I don’t know yet!
