I’ve been cleaning, organizing, moving and trashing all kinds of things – nothing is off limits! In the course of so doing, I came across some small fabric scraps I’d been saving for making “made fabric” to quilt. I was kinda tired of looking at these prints after all the cozy things I’ve made with them, but I had a hunch they could be used one more time.
Ta-da! They are now a vase! I took an old ceramic vase in a mauve pink that was dated and rather unloveable, and now it looks great! A quilted vase? Every heard of such a thing?
Since I liked how that one came out, I took a glass vase and tried it with the blue scraps. The gel medium I used to stick the fabric on the vase was a little more tricky to stick onto the glass, but I got it to work. Nice thing about fabric is that it bends so easily around the curves of the vases. I have one more to do in greens. I’ll upload a pic when I get it done.
The top vase already has one coat of varnish on it; I plan to add one more. The blue vase has no layers of varnish yet.
Ever covered something like this with leftover fabric? I’d love to hear about it!
