I love real life stories. One of the things I enjoy when creating a piece of sterling silver jewelry is to know the story of the person for whom I’m making it. When a customer says, “This is for my niece’s 13th birthday,” I know about the recipient and think about that person as I’m stamping, hammering and doing all things necessary to make this piece of silver jewelry. Without that personal information, I find I’m no longer working with purpose and it just becomes a manufacturing process – cold & impersonal.
Even when I’m designing new pieces, I imagine their future use. Sometimes in the creative process I create something totally unexpected – like accidentally on purpose!
I stamped the name and the piece needed something else. So I stamped a heart on it – and I liked it better! Then I just hammered the whole thing for texture – better still! Then I added a small pearl; just enough dangle so the name is still readable, but the overall look has interest!
I am putting these up on my Etsy site – just let me know if you’d like your name in sterling silver, hammered, and with a heart & pearl!
