While I thoroughly enjoy sewing bits of scrap together to make fabric, then creating something usable and pretty with what would have been trash, I also enjoy creating more than just repetitive patterns.
So I’ve been playing around with birdies to see what would happen. This first piece is scraps of red sewn together for the background, then the turquoise birdie is fused on. I got so excited about the birdie that I did the black stitching on it before quilting the rest of the piece…so the quilting does cover his tail in the upper left corner. Live and learn!
More to come!
