Can you guess why I call this a Hugs and Kisses quilt? Look for the X’s and O’s in the quilting lines!
Each block is 16 half square triangle blocks sewn 4 x 4 to make a square. I did not take pictures along the way because I was so focused on getting the blocks lined up in pattern that I didn’t even think of the camera. Oh well.
This quilt was composed in a modified quilt-as-you-go manner. Quilt as you go is a method of quilting each piece or block, and then joining the blocks with strips. It is an alternative way of accomplishing the quilting of larger quilts for those of us who have a home sewing machine only and not a long arm quilting machine. Click HERE for a great tutorial about how to join the squares together in QAYG (quilt as you go). The Quilting Edge blog has fantastic tutorials on the whole process of quilt as you go.
This is a quilt composed entirely of fabrics from my stash! I didn’t even purchase new fabric for the backing or binding. I like the patchwork style of the back too : )
Stay tuned – I’ve been showing a lotta love to my Bernina. More next time : )
