I have not felt like doing much lately, but decided to put together a post of the few things that came to mind just to get things rolling again.
Spent most of June still sewing clothing. Not many pictures – haven’t been that motivated. I’m guessing that’s just the way I’ve been grieving. But here is a pair pants sewn from Vogue 8637 – a Marci Tilton pattern. I love the lagenlook layering, but am often overwhelmed with the volume of fabric many styles entail. This one fits into my regular wardrobe nicely. And comfortable! They only touch at the waist and the ankles!
Then I went to quilt retreat with my wonderful quilting sisters this week.
Getting ready for it caused me to put away my 3-D sewing (clothing) and pull out my 2-D sewing (quilting). I am all stimulated by the colors again! Unfortunately I came home early because of some allergy issues. My face swelling has gone down significantly. So while recovering from the allergy overload, I spent the entire day yesterday cutting and planning quilts!
Cut diamonds…never done a diamond quilt before : )
Cut 4″ squares – thinking about a disappearing 9 patch…we’ll see.
Cut strips in 1 1/2″, 2″, 2 1/2″ & 3″. Also cut a few centers.
Here are some tester squares. Love the colors which aren’t showing up very well in the morning light.
Cut some triangles from leftover batiks.
Well, I guess I’ve been more productive than I realized!
Yesterday as I was ironing all that fabric for cutting, I realized my wonderful iron – Reliable Velocity v100 isn’t steaming anymore, even after a filter change. It’s lasted 2 1/2 years with no leaking, perfect steam, and the amazing auto-shut off bypass! So it’s getting replaced with another one!
Having the right tools is so wonderful : )
