Mini quilt, indeed! It is 6″ square and I plan to use it in the kitchen as a lid-lifter, pot-holder, and trivet! I have found that when I make pot holders 8 x 8 or larger, that I am afraid to use them to lift pots off the stove since my stove is gas. Open flame + fabric = potential disaster.
So instead, I like these small quilts. Just big enough to keep hands from burning on pot lids and soup pot handles. I went through my unfinished block stash and found these purple and yellow stars. Nice contrasting colors, but I don’t have anywhere in my house such a quilt could reside. Good thing I only found about 7 of them, and they are all
potholders, er, mini quilts now.
I tried several different quilting ideas on them including extreme stippling top, and modern straight right above. I actually like the modern straight quilting. I thought it would be boring, but it was very meditative.
Anyway, here is a look at the bunch.
