I decided I could do something – to make a small contribution to this life.
Occasionally I make a little money, either through a craft fair in a friend’s home at the holidays, selling something to my husband’s co-workers, Etsy, or one time even, through this blog’s affiliate links.
What if I took some, no, half, of what I got after paying expenses and gave it away?
Giving it away
I will give away 50% of all profit coming in through all the means I have
– this blog as well as things I make and sell in real life.
I thought I’d take God up on His challenge in Malachi 3:10
“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”
Why 50% of profits? Why not just the tithe – 10% or 20% depending on how you interpret this.
It just seems like the right amount.
I want to see just how much God will give me to give away.
I decided that I would see just how much my little creations could bring to help another.
It’s not the amount, it’s about my heart.
I will give 50% of profits from here forth.
Giving to Those in Need
To start, I want to support Thistle Farms in Nashville, TN
Thistle Farms if the name for all they do, including Magdalene house. Magdalene is a 2 year residential program giving food, housing, medical care, therapy and education to women who have survived abuse, prostitution, trafficking, and addiction. How? They have created a social enterprise whereby they hand make bath and body products and sell them.
The products are wonderful!
And giving hope to women who are otherwise ignored by society is a good enterprise to support.
So whenever you follow a link on this blog and you purchase something from that link, know that part of your purchase will be going to help women who really need it.
