I am working on a t-shirt quilt for one of my daughters. While I was cutting and fusing the “good parts,” of the 24 t’s, I realized I was amassing a tall pile of sleeves. Hmmm…surely these could be used!?!
I began laying them out bottom hem to bottom hem and armhole to armhole alternating colors. When attaching them together on the diagonal at the armhole, I altered them so they would be somewhat straight rather than end up in a circle. I used my regular sewing machine and an interlock stitch and laid one folded sleeve over another and sewed. I later went back and trimmed the seams to get rid of all the bulk. This allowed them to naturally bend and snake about which gives them great interest!
I can’t wait to see what my daughters say about these. I never really know if the younger generation will think it cool, or if these will get quietly added to the give-away pile.
