It’s fall and besides College Football, that means YARN! I just can’t help myself. So here on this blog, that means weaving, at least for now…
I recently purchased a Saori book on Etsy that looks like this:
I can’t tell you the title because the entire book is in Japanese! You even open the book from what we in America think of as the “back” of the book. Anyway, they have very clever and simple patterns for using whole pieces of cloth off the loom without a bunch of sewing and fitting. My kind of sewing exactly!
So I had these 2 long pieces of woven cloth that were 16″ wide and about 72″ long (each). A little sewing and cutting and I have the above vest. The back pictured way above and this is the front.
Because the armholes are offset vertically, the vest can be flipped upside down and you get this second look.
And here is the back.
Here is a picture of it laying on the floor so you can see what it really looks like.
I decided to offset the ends and then add the fringe and small crocheted border for artistic interest.
It does hang great on the body and I will add a picture when it get’s worn. I have yet to wear it because the weather has been too mild. I surely can’t wait though!
Lastly, I thought I’d include a picture of why I haven’t been posting more regularly.
Cricket is 4 months now and weighs about 5 1/2 pounds.
So much cuteness!
