For the past several weeks, my old Viking 500 has been balking at very heavy fabrics and having tension issues. I’ve been contemplating a new machine, but have a hard time justifying it with 2 kids in college & a third to start back in June. I have found myself dreading sewing time – not good!
Instead I have been playing with painting & dyeing fabrics. Above is a template I made from a die cutting machine. Here is a fabric I painted using Chromacyl Textile Medium mixed with Golden fluid acrylic paints. I started with plain white cotton and the end result was a little stiff, so next time I will use more Chromacyl.
The fabric on the left is a mono print of what was left on the table after I lifted the other fabric. Fun but I do miss sewing!
I have been researching on the internet reading many blogs, opinions, & reviews of various machines. Today I am going sewing machine shopping! I was so excited last night that I had a hard time sleeping!
What machine to you sew & quilt on? And what do you like or dislike about it? I’d love to hear!
