Ah, it had to happen. I promised I’d write about real life and this is real life today – lots of ideas but no real direction or motivation. Kind of like that paint palette. Lots of colors, no real picture.
It’s the post Christmas blahs and just allowing myself to rest has been more difficult than usual. It’s as if the world is shouting “Hey! Get moving again!”
It seems like there are a dozen opportunities to meet people and do fun things in the next week or two. When did January get so busy?
I’m not one to watch TV or dawdle time away…I like to be doing something.
So I have been showing up in my art studio, which is usual for January. Playing with color and remembering which colors play nicely with each other is fun. And who doesn’t love more color in this brown month?
I think that showing up in the boring times is when magic can really happen. There used to be a saying that quality time is more important that quantity time – referring to time spent with children.
The reality is that quality often comes out of the quantity.
In a creative context, spending a quantity of time in the studio will (hopefully) one day result in quality work. Until that quality work shows up, it’s at least a fun way to spend an afternoon.
Let’s slow down and show up – and enjoy our creative gifts. Is anyone else going to spend a quantity of time doing what they love this week?
