Do you enjoy wearing knit fabrics as much as I do?
I mean, they are soft, stretchy, and let you move however you want!
Recently I was pouring over the Burda Style magazines from last year ( I let my subscription lapse this year because I still am sewing from last years magazines) and came across this fantastic fancy raglan t-shirt.
This is Ragland shirt 127 from Burda Style magazine 2/2013.
Here is a close up of the raglan at the neckline – scrunchy gathers!
The floral is a fabric I bought from Fashion Fabrics Club. It isn’t the nicest fabric, so it really was my muslin. Since it turned out so well, I really got 2 wearable garments this time!
In this pic, you really can’t immediately see the gathers.
You can see them better in this one – a cream rayon spandex knit. Yum!
On the cream, the second one I sewed, I reinforced the gathers with ¼” elastic. That was a little trick I learned from the Craftsy class Sewing Fashion Knits with Linda Lee. That was an excellent class. I wondered what one could possibly say for several hours about sewing knits. Well, I learned some great tricks! The elastic was just one of the little tricks I learned.
Here’s the link to the specific class:
Here’s a close up of the neckline of the floral knit. It is so perfect! I learned the trick for making it look so good and not gape in this class. Now all my t-shirts look more professional than Gap! They are definitely out of nicer material.
Happy Creating everyone!
