Best trivet (or even potholder) yet!
Start with an old t-shirt or camisole – 100% cotton. Poly & acrylic fibers will melt under hot pots and high oven temps.
Cut into 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ pieces. Or 2 1/2″ x 6″ depending on how thick the t-shirt is – you may want to experiment before cutting a whole bunch. Some were even 1 1/2″ x 5″
Take rectangle, fold in half.
Cut in the center from the fold to the edge stopping about 1/4″ from the edge. This will create a loop that will be used in the weaving.
Trim corners if you’d like.
Begin laying the first layer on a potholder loom.
This first one was really thick!
The second one was cut with thinner strips and besides being easier to weave, I like it a little better.
My next thought is to sew 2 together at one edge to make a fold-over gripper holder.
Haven’t done that yet because of the puppy.
