Let me start by saying I am not a big reader. Like, not at all except for magazine articles, blogs and the occasional self help book. BUT, I am loving my new Kindle Fire! I got it for some traveling and sitting/waiting I was going to do last week. I found that I really like the form factor for reading!
Anyway, I wanted to make a cover to keep it new and shiny while I traveled.
So I sketched out a design and had fun picking out coordinating fabrics from my newly rearranged quilting space. The pic above is of the back with the flap attached. I think this is fabric from Kaufman, but don’t remember the name of the line.
For the front, I wanted a pocket for the charging cord. I thought about using my nifty embroidery machine for the task of adding personalization, but I didn’t want to take the time to figure out the software again. This is a photo copy of a giant letter “n” and I used a tiny zig zag stitch and just followed the edge. It’s a little hard to see the lines in this pic.
This is the finished appliqué before cutting around the edges of the letter. Applique scissors are a necessity for this!
Finished letter on pocket.

My Mother, who is visiting, saw this and said I needed to get a spot on Shark Tank to sell my idea. Mom’s are so encouraging : )
