In the few minutes I’ve stolen away this spring break week, I took the opportunity to play with the idea of combining my hand woven fabric and quilting. Here is the initial fabric – a solid fine gold rayon as warp & a rayon chenille as weft. It is lightweight and drapey and I thought wonderful for a scarf, but it hasn’t sold in over a year so I chose it to cut up.
I fused Wonder Under or something similar to one side, cut into circles & fused to the background. Fraying with a hand woven will have to be incorporated into the design of the final piece because it is inevitable!
Then I free motion stitched on the wovens and here is the final play for now:
Not bad for a first attempt!
