I have been more in a fiber mood lately, and have been doing some sewing for myself. With 3 kids in college, sewing clothing is quite appealing for cost purposes. However, even more interesting is the idea of re-fashioning clothes.
Thrift stores are always fun for me. With the idea of re-fashioning clothing, there are lots more options to create a personal wardrobe. Instead of making the clothes from scratch, I can start with a garment from the thrift store and alter it to be what I want. Which is what I did in today’s post.
If you notice, there is an underlayer of mauve/pink chiffon. So I went to the fabric store to see if I could match that and add length. No luck. It ended up being a blessing – I never wear pink! Why was I looking for pink anyway? It wouldn’t have matched anything I own.
So I got some dark brown chiffon, gathered it slightly, and added it to the skirt on top of the pink chiffon layer.
Here is a close up of the addition.
